Children and Clinical Trials
One of the most heartening statistics in cancer research
is the cure rate for children. In the past several decades,
the cure rate has increased from close to 30 percent to more
than 75 percent18.
This is because of medical advances made by clinical research.
Today, about 60 percent of pediatric cancer patients are
enrolled in clinical trials19,
demonstrating the continued positive impact of research and
the importance of expanding the participation rate for all other
types of cancer. If more adults with cancer began to participate
in cancer research, we might see a similar increase in cure
rates for them.
